Fair Use Policy

Last updated: September 2026

Mindli plans include a monthly usage quota for studio work. This page explains what that quota covers, what is never metered, and the limits that keep the service fast and fair for everyone.

1. What the monthly usage quota covers

Studio work draws on your plan's monthly usage quota:

  • Uploading and processing documents, images, and web pages
  • Transcribing audio and video
  • Generating summaries, flashcards, quizzes, and podcasts

Usage is always displayed as a simple percentage of your plan's quota, and you see a preview of what something will use before it runs. On a paid plan the quota resets on your billing date. On Free it resets every month on the anniversary of the day you created your account. The app shows the next reset date next to your usage.

2. What is never metered

Reading your daily learning feed, doing spaced reviews, and keeping your streak are free and unlimited on every plan, forever. Learning from what you have already added never counts against any quota.

3. Yearly plans

On a yearly plan, the full year of usage is unlocked upfront and shown against an annual quota. It resets on your yearly billing date.

4. Fair-use pacing

To keep the service fast and abuse-free for everyone, unusually heavy short-burst usage may be paced with daily and weekly limits. When pacing applies, the app tells you exactly when it resumes — tomorrow, or next week.

Pacing never reduces your monthly quota, and it is not a paywall.

5. Per-item bounds

A few limits apply per item rather than to the quota:

  • Video and lecture length: up to 45 minutes per video on Free and Plus, and up to about 4 hours on Pro. Unusually hard-to-transcribe video may be paced.
  • AI chat: 50 questions per day on Free. Paid plans have no fixed chat cap at launch. Chat is still counted for fair use, and if a ceiling is ever set, it will sit above normal use and be announced first.
  • Active learning goals: 3 on Free, 15 on Plus, and unlimited on Pro (fair use: 100).

6. Our commitments

  • We never silently shrink what normal use covers.
  • Material changes to this policy are announced in advance.
  • Illustrative capacities on the pricing page are examples of typical use — not per-item limits.

7. Abuse and automation

Automated scraping, bulk processing unrelated to personal learning, and other abuse may be limited or refused. Legacy (grandfathered) plans keep the terms they were purchased under.
